Robert M. “Bob” Maisenbacher, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born on December 23, 1956, in Springfield, the son of Robert and Judith (Pierce) Maisenbacher. Bob married Babette Beaver (his loving wife of 44 years) on December 27, 1980, in Springfield.
Bob graduated from Southeast High School in 1974. He went on to work for the State of Illinois in the child support services division for 35 years. Bob started out with the state legislator and worked his way up to public service administrator. He was also an attorney liaison. Bob was a member of a bowling league at Kingpin Lanes and considered himself an amateur sportsman. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. He treasured the outdoors and traveling with his wife. Bob loved all things music but especially rock ‘n’ roll. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, skydiving (both solo and tandem), skiing, golfing, and softball (where he was a captain and pitcher). Bob was a caring and kind risk taker and all-around jokester. His optimism, humor and fun-loving spirit will be missed by everyone that knew Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Judith Lynn Maisenbacher.
Bob is survived by his wife, Babette Maisenbacher of Springfield; children, Amber (Jesse) Higgason, Andrea (significant other, Jeremy Woodard) Maisenbacher, and Joshua (Anna) Maisenbacher, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Vanessa Higgason and J.P. Maisenbacher, both of Springfield; siblings, Michael “Mike” (Karen) Maisenbacher of Tallahassee, FL, Steven (Janice) Maisenbacher of Springfield, and Aaron Beaver of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after at JP Kelly’s, located at 300 E. Adams Street, Springfield, IL.
